above is a link on on women ski jumpers being denied entrance into the winter games in Vancouver. Today was the last day of class and we wrote about uprising vs. rioting, and minorities and how they are potrayed in the media. When i watched this story all I could think of is an uprising. We have come so far as a society to push equality. I know this story takes place in Canada, but it’s a story the whole world should see. I feel bad for these girls that are setting world records, and yet being denied. This shows tolerence to sexism, racism, and ignorance. If you can’t let the girls compete, then u mind as well tell black people they can’t compete. This is completely ignorant and distasteful.
my eyes have opened in class to the past and present injustices of minorites. women in particular fascinated me because of their continued uprising toward equality. gettting educations, careers, starting their own businesses, and taking no shit. i have been especially touched by this story because these young girls are pushing the evelope just a little more. they have lost this battle, but wars arent won with one battle. they have to keep fighting. continue with love in their hearts. I hope that a story like this can perpetuate ALL oppressed to rise up with love in their hearts and change the world one battle at a time.
it is my belief that if you are born in the USA then you’re sitting on a winning lottery ticket. All you have to do is cash it. i believe in three things that lead to success. they are my golden rules: live postive, focused, and healthy. confidence is a smear that can’t be wiped. i belive with all of my heart that if I follow my golden rules, then I will attain everything I want. The mind is so powerful that it can change our physical health. Continue with love in your heart, maybe some anger, but it must be the right amount. these girls are going to be ok. their uprising will continue feeding the confidence that ALL are created equal in relevence, and we deserve the right to pursue our dreams.
