the above link will bring you to a story about a young girl who suffers from a rare disease that makes her look older than she is. This disease is called lipodystrophy. It is a genetic disorder that ages the skin uncontrollably. I feel so bad for this girl because even though she may appear to be 50, she’s only 13. I can’t imagine the pain she suffers. The ridicule that brittles her already fragile mind. Mt heart truly goes out to her.
we live in a world where so much is placed on the outer self. What we look like, our clothes, our car, even our phones. It’s sad we are that shallow and collectively we will always remain this way. We live in a world where kings and queens in the celebrity form help shape our thinking. almost as if they are thinking for us. The music we listen to, the movies we watch, the language we use, I mean it comes down to being the very fabric that we we awake with in the morning. I believe there are alot of mishaped youth, and weak minded individuals that do everything they can to hold an image. an image they embody emulated from something external. I am guilty of it as well. I go to school to get an education that will afford me the oppurtunity to make more money. What I want to do with this money is buy my dream car. As if my car will change my life, or impact a childs life in some positive fashion. My car will change nothing,,,but perhaps my attitude. I look in the mirror every morning and I wonder what can i fix? in reality, nothing I do externally is going to bring me to what I am searching for, it may only be pushing me away.
Someone once said to me: “It’s not where you’re at, it’s whom you are.” I am 28, and that forever holds true in my heart. We will never be happy with anything or anyone until we can be happy with ourselves. We can never appreciate what has been gained until we know what it’s like to lose. A smile never means the same if we can’t frown. And tears never taste so sweet unless we can’t taste the salt. Everything has a 180. I believe once we have traveled the entire 360, then only can we appreciate the 180.
this poor girl will suffer for as long as she chooses to suffer. we will hate as long as we choose to hate. we will be….as long as we choose to be. Anything.
